LaToya has a plan to improve quality of life for all New Orleanians.  She will:

  • Support residents’ healthy, socially active lives.

    • Support community partners and the New Orleans Council on Aging in offering social and cultural programs.

    • Connect you to health and wellness programs through a new Office of Youth and Family Services and community health clinics.

  • Make our neighborhoods safer.

    • Give our police the tools and resources they need to focus on violent crime.

    • Hire a world-class chief and build up the force with predictable raises and promotions.

    • Bring back quality of life officers and foster trust with community policing.

  • Help you stay in your community as you move through life.

    • Provide gap financing to help you make renovations like updating bathroom fixtures and adding ramps.

    • Pursue flexibility around city rent controls and incentivize landlords to keep your rent affordable.

    • Develop affordable housing, provide property tax relief, and fight blight.

  • Prioritize our drainage and streets.

    • Reform and restructure the Sewage and Water Board.

    • Improve SWB coordination with Public Works and the Corps of Engineers.

    • Start an infrastructure fund to pay for long-term maintenance.

  • Improve public transportation.

    • Increase bus service and connectivity in underserved areas.

    • Make RTA Paratransit more accessible to limited-mobility residents.

  • Promote livable communities for people of all ages and ablenesses.

    • Prioritize Complete Streets: Install ADA-compliant street features, lighting, and signage for safety and accessibility.

    • Promote strategic mixed-use development, to make it easier to get to the grocery, pharmacy, and shops from home.
