The Southern Organization for Unified Leadership (SOUL), one of the most influential political formations in New Orleans, has announced its support for Councilwoman LaToya Cantrell for Mayor of New Orleans.
SOUL’s Chairman and one of its founding members, Don C. Hubbard, says Cantrell is by far the best candidate for Mayor based on her experience, her record of accomplishments, and her commitment to economic development for every local citizen.
“LaToya brought her Broadmoor neighborhood together and made sure it wouldn’t be a ‘Green dot’ after Katrina. She has served her District well on the City Council. She understands City government and has mastered the budget process. She’s committed to bringing real economic growth to every neighborhood in our city. No one else in the Mayor’s race has shown the ability to get things done for and with the people of our city like LaToya Cantrell”, Hubbard said.
Hubbard added, “Her eloquent expression of ‘Nothing stops a bullet like a job’ is the core of her commitment to providing real opportunity to all citizens and fighting crime with real opportunity for our troubled youth. She is focused on bringing living wage, 21st century jobs and making sure we train our people to be able to fill those positions. LaToya Cantrell will be a great Mayor for our City.”
The SOUL endorsement is one of many earned by Cantrell. She is also endorsed by BOLD (the Black Organization for Leadership Development), The New Orleans Coalition, the IWO (Independent Women’s Organization), Forum for Equality, Higher Heights for America, Working Families Party, Step Up Louisiana, Times Picayune, Louisiana Weekly and Gambit Weekly.
The election for Mayor is October 14th. Early voting has begun and ends on Saturday, October 7. SOUL urges your vote and support of LaToya Cantrell #36 for Mayor of the City of New Orleans.
